The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported a shooting incident that took place in the breezeway of the Pointe Grand on Main apartment complex.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Sunday night, law enforcement detained a woman following a domestic altercation that allegedly led to her shooting her boyfriend at her residence on Jacksonville’s Northside, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities stated that officers responded to a call regarding the shooting at Pointe Grand on Main Apartments, situated at 11833 North Main St., at approximately 11:33 p.m. Upon arrival, JSO Sgt. Johnson mentioned that officers encountered the woman, who admitted to shooting her boyfriend.
Following her admission, officers proceeded to place the woman under arrest.
The victim, identified as the woman’s boyfriend, sustained a gunshot wound to his left side and was transported to a nearby hospital. According to Sgt. Johnson, he is in his late 20s.
“The initial investigation revealed there was a domestic dispute between the victim and suspect, that turned physical,” Johnson said. “During the physical dispute, the suspect shot the victim at least one time. The victim then fled on foot, when he was contacted by police walking down N. Main St.”
Johnson added that the incident occurred in the breezeway of the apartment complex, and that the woman is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
