JSO Lieutenant Eanes identified the pedestrian as a man in his mid-30s.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on San Pablo Road South in Jacksonville early Saturday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Lieutenant Eanes told First Coast News patrol officers got a call about the crash around 3:10 a.m., and afterward responded and found the pedestrian lying in the road.
Eanes identified the pedestrian as a man in his mid-30s.
Eanes said an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on the road when it hit the man who was walking in or crossing the street. The vehicle then left the scene, Eanes said.
The man was pronounced dead on scene, according to Eanes.
“There were no witnesses at all that we know of at this time,” Eanes said. “There are possibly some cameras in the area that are investigators are gonna look at. There’s an apartment complex right there, so we’re gonna be checking it all to see if we can find anything.”
Eanes said JSO does not have a description of the vehicle involved. He further told First Coast News the crash marks as the 101st traffic fatality in Duval County in 2025, with 25 of the fatalities being pedestrians.
