JSO: Paul Avenue shooting leaves man dead; 2 detained

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said two people were detained for questioning by detectives.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people were detained Tuesday night after a man was shot and killed on Jacksonville’s Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sergeant Weaver-Thompson said at 10:11 p.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Paul Avenue in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, Weaver-Thompson said officers found the man, who was in his early-40s, suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was then rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.

JSO said the two people detained were questioned by detectives.
