JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering after a shooting following an attempted burglary at a home Monday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said around 12:10 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Cahoon Road South after reports of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a homeowner who said someone attempted to break into his home.
A short time later, police said officers were notified that a man in his mid-30s had walked into an urgent care with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and took the man to the hospital, where he is now in “stable” condition.
Police said the initial investigation indicates that a man attempted to burglarize a home and was confronted by the homeowner. Investigators did not say whether or not the homeowner was the one to shoot the victim, and whether the victim in this case is the suspect who attempted to break into the home.
However, police said this is an isolated incident and all parties involved have been detained.
JSO said the investigation is ongoing to determine the scenario that left the man hospitalized.
