The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Josiah Martinez, 24, with assistance from US Marshals Monday on a warrant with a second-degree murder charge.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An arrest has been made in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred at Copeland’s of New Orleans in Jacksonville in June, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
Josiah Martinez, 24, was arrested Monday on a warrant with a second-degree murder charge.
Kenneth Mobley, who would have turned 39 on June 23, just a little over a week after the shooting on June 11, was described by loved ones as a go-getter who lit up the room.
Officers found Mobley suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest when they arrived on scene. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Several people were taken into custody on the day of Mobley’s murder. Three people were detained as suspects, JSO said, and two witnesses were speaking with police about what they saw.
According to JSO, Mobley was at the restaurant to “meet someone,” but the sheriff’s office has not said what the purpose of the meeting was.
