The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the teen was walking along Rogero Road and was caught in the crossfire.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teen was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after being shot during a shootout between two Hyundais in Jacksonville’s Arlington area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Richardson said at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers responded to the 3700 block of Rogero Road in reference to the shooting.

When they arrived, Richardson said they found the teen injured, and detained one of the Hyundais involved in the shooting, as well as three individuals inside.

Richardson said the teen was then taken to a local hospital in “stable condition” after being shot once in the back. He said the teen was walking when he was caught in the crossfire. The injuries the teen suffered is considered non-life-threatening, Richardson said.

Richardson further told First Coast News that three guns were recovered from the three people detained, and that detectives responded to the scene and spoke to several witnesses and canvassed the area for surveillance footage.

Richardson said he did not know how many people were in the other Hyundai involved in the shooting.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
