JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his late teens was shot during a “transaction” on Jacksonville’s Northside early Thursday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sgt. Mitlyng said at approximately 1:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office was called out to the 8000 block of Garden Street about the man being shot.
When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from a single gunshot wound, Mitlyng said. He was then taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The initial investigation has revealed that the victim met up with the suspect to conduct a transaction, at which point the victim was shot,” Mitlyng said. “At this time, the nature of the transaction, as well as what led to the shooting, is unclear.”
Mitlyng further told First Coast News the shooting happened in the street, not at a home, and that it appears to be an isolated incident.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information to police anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 904-630-0500.
