Jude Law’s Ex Reveals Adorable Photo of Their Daughter Following Chappell Roan Encounter

Jude Law’s former partner expressed her gratitude to Lewis Capaldi for his thoughtful gesture on Sunday after he took a photo with Law’s daughter. This came in the wake of a distressing encounter involving Chappell Roan, which reportedly left the young music fan in tears.

Jorginho, a former Chelsea and Arsenal player who is married to Catherine Harding, addressed the incident on Instagram. He claimed that his wife’s daughter with Jude Law, aged 11, was threatened by a bodyguard of the Pink Pony Club singer after spotting the celebrity at their hotel in Brazil.

Catherine shared a photo of her daughter, believed to be Ada Law, smiling alongside Scottish musician Lewis Capaldi. The picture was taken after his performance at Lollapalooza 2026 in São Paulo, where Chappell Roan was the headliner.

Lewis gave a thumbs up to the camera with Catherine also jumping in for a snap as she captioned the post: ‘Thanks for your kindness’.

Chappell Roan has since apologized, clarifying that she did not instruct any security personnel to approach Jude Law’s daughter.

Jorginho, the girl’s stepfather, publicly criticized the singer on social media for the actions of her security guard towards the child.

Chappell has now responded, saying in a video on her Instagram Story: ‘I’m gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard – who is not my personal security…

‘I didn’t even see. I didn’t even see a woman and a child. No one came up to me, no one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast at my hotel. I think these people were staying at the hotel as well. So the fact that a security guard who is…

‘I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not. They did not come up to me. I did not do anything. It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe it as there’s no action been taken.

‘I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children, like that is crazy. I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something.

‘If you felt uncomfortable that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.’ 

It seemed that the ordeal had an impact on Cat’s daughter, as The Voice contestant later posted on Instagram they decided to skip Chappell’s show.

Cat shared on Instagram that she and her daughter decided to skip Chappell’s show and posted an excited video of her after seeing Sabrina Carpenter in concert at the festival the day before.

She captioned the post: ‘This was Ada’s reaction yesterday to arriving to watch @sabrinacarpenter.

It comes after Chappell apologised as she insisted she did not ask any security guard to approach Jude’s daughter

‘Our daughter decided she didn’t want to go to the show tonight after how we were treated… so instead we had a girls day shopping and then out to dinner.

‘Thank you everyone for the kind messages, all is well!’

In a lengthy Instagram statement, Jorginho publicly criticised Chappell’s security for threatening Cat’s daughter after she saw the star while having breakfast at their hotel.

He wrote: ‘I went through a very upsetting situation with my family earlier today.’

‘My wife (@catcavelli) is in Sao Paulo for @lollapaloozabr. This morning, my daughter woke up incredibly excited, she even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire.’

He continued: ‘By coincidence, they’re staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognized her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it was really her.

‘And the worst part is she didn’t even approach her. She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.

‘What happened next was completely disproportionate. A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to “disrespect” or “harass” other people.

‘Honestly, I don’t know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment. He even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot.

‘I’ve lived with football, public exposure, and well-known people for many years, and I understand very well what respect and boundaries are. What happened there was not that. It was just a child admiring someone.

‘It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this. I sincerely hope this serves as a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.’

Jorginho concluded: ‘@chappellroan WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.’

Representatives for Chappell Roan did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.

Jorginho’s post quickly went viral, and internet users did not hesitate to offer their input on the contentious altercation. 

The story even caught the attention of Rio Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere, who banned Roan from performing in the city. 

‘I mean that as long as I’m in charge of our city – this young lady @ChappelRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio! I doubt that Shakira would do that! By the way, @FrelloJorginho your little one is already the guest of honor from the organization in May!’ Cavaliere wrote in a translated post from Portuguese. 

The mayor then added that Ada would be invited as a special guest to the upcoming Todo Mundo no Rio, which is a series of huge international shows. Shakira is set to headline this year. 

Roan has had an occasionally contentious relationship with her fans, with the artist previously calling out behavior that she considered ‘creepy’ and ‘invasive’ in previous social media posts.

In August 2024, around the time of her sudden rise in popularity, Roan posted a video to TikTok where she said, ‘I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous.

‘It’s weird how people think that you know a person because you see them online and you listen to the art they make … I’m allowed to say no to creepy behavior, okay?’

She followed that up with a lengthy post to Instagram, saying, ‘I want to be an artist for a very long time. I’ve been in too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions and I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don’t owe you s**t.’

Roan continued: ‘When I’m on stage, when I’m performing, when I’m in drag, when I’m at a work event, when I’m doing press…I am at work. Any other circumstance, I am not in work mode. I am clocked out.’

She added, ‘If you’re still asking, ‘Well, if you didn’t want this to happen, then why did you choose a career where you knew you wouldn’t be comfortable with the outcome of success?’ – understand this: I embrace the success of the project, the love I feel, and the gratitude I have. What I do not accept are creepy people, being touched, and being followed.’

Jorginho and Harding married last year after four years of dating. In 2023, the departing Arsenal footballer got down on one knee for the singer, surrounded by red roses and candles, while being serenaded by a violinist.

The pair also starred together on fly-on-the-wall series Married To The Game, which premiered in February 2024, and follows the partners of some of the best Premier League footballers, shedding light on their lives beyond the pitch.

Catherine has previously spoken about the challenges of having a blended family, admitting it is difficult when different households have different rules for their children.

Catherine was 23 when she dated Jude, then 41, who was filming on location in the Czech Republic as he grew close to the aspiring musician.

He and his now wife Phillipa Coan also have two children – born in 2020 and 2023.

Chappell was previously blasted by Boy George over her self imposed boundaries with fans, as he insisted the singer should ‘own your fame and cheer up.’

The Culture Club frontman was responding to a viral video which shows Chappell filming herself as she confronts a group of fans who had allegedly been following her around Paris.

The video, filmed by an onlooker, shows Chappell telling her camera that she feels ‘disregarded as a human’.

‘I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me,’ she says. Chappell then focuses on one fan who continues to ask for an autograph.

The musician says: ‘This person I’ve asked several times to go away, and they will not… They’re hiding their face, because they’re ashamed.’

Boy George offered Chappell some advice, saying she should embrace the attention while she can as fame fades, insisting it’s all part of the package when you become a pop star. 

Writing on X the Karma Chameleon hitmaker said: ‘It’s probably not helpful but I have been doing this fame thing for a while and you learn slowly and painfully that you don’t get a free pass once you turn yourself into a bird of paradise.’

‘Yes, it’s annoying at times but so is being ignored and told your a ‘has-been’. Life is always now and I think Chappell looks great but cheer up girl.’

‘The world is at your feet stop kicking it! It takes so much more time to say no to a picture or a signature. Boundaries are boring. Break them with the magic of kindness!’

Some X users were quick to defend Chappell though with one replying to the post: ‘Why is everyone so eager to tell women to just take unwanted attention.’ 

In 2024 the Good Luck Babe! hitmaker slammed fans for ‘harassing’ her and ‘stalking’ behavior and said she doesn’t ‘give a f***’ if that makes her ‘selfish’.

She discussed dealing with attention on an episode of The Comment Section podcast and said at the time she had ‘pumped the brakes’ on fame.

‘People have started to be freaks, like, [they] follow me and know where my parents live, and where my sister works,’ she told host Drew Afualo. ‘All this weird s***.’

Chappell explained that she had made a promise to herself that she would stop making music if fans gave her ‘stalker vibes’ or made her family feel as if they were in any ‘danger.’

Chappell later stood by her stance on Instagram. In a lengthy statement, she wrote, ‘I’m not afraid of the consequences for demanding respect.’

The singer added, ‘This isn’t a new situation. Why is a girl expressing her fears and boundaries so infuriating?’

‘For the past 10 years I’ve been going non-stop to build my project and it’s come to the point that I need to draw lines and set boundaries.’

‘I don’t agree with the notion that I owe a mutual exchange of energy, time, or attention to people I do not know, do not trust, or who creep me out – just because they’re expressing admiration.’

The likes of Miley Cyrus have publicly defended Chappell. Miley revealed in 2024 that she had reached out to the rising star to offer support, and explained: ‘I wish people would not give her a hard time.’
