A Chicago judge has acquitted a man accused in the tragic shooting death of a 7-year-old girl during a Fourth of July celebration in the Austin neighborhood.

In the summer of 2020, young Natalia Wallace was playing on the sidewalk when, according to law enforcement, three armed individuals emerged from a white vehicle and unleashed over 20 gunshots toward a gathering in the 100-block of North Latrobe Avenue.

Tragically, Natalia was struck in the forehead by one of the bullets and later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

Among those charged in connection with this heartbreaking incident was Terell Boyd, who faced accusations alongside three other individuals.

Nearly five years after the murder, a judge found Boyd not guilty on all counts, including murder and aggravated battery.

Boyd’s brothers Davion Mitchel and Kevin Boyd were among the others charged for her death.

Davion Mitchel was found not guilty on all counts.

Kevin Boyd was previously found guilty of murder and aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm. He is do in court on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Reginald Merrill was accused of driving the brothers for the shooting. Merrill was found not guilty of murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
