Karama Brown has decided he can no longer remain silent about the frequent feelings of alienation he experienced on the set of “Queer Eye.”
In a candid interview with People, published on Tuesday, Brown shared the events that ultimately led to his unexpected exit from the show in January.
The 45-year-old, who was a prominent figure on the reboot for 10 seasons alongside Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, and Tan France, revealed that his decision was influenced by a troubling incident. His mother, while visiting the set, overheard some cast members speaking negatively about him.
With tears in her eyes, she recounted the experience to Brown, repeatedly expressing disbelief, saying, “I thought they were your friends.”
According to the publication, Jonathan Van Ness and Antoni Porowski were among those allegedly engaged in the gossip about Brown.
Reps for van Ness, Porowski, Berk and France did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
