In a delightful announcement, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt disclosed her pregnancy with a baby girl. The news has brought joy to her family and colleagues alike.

Leavitt, who is 28, shared that she and her husband, Nick Riccio, who is 59, are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their second child in May 2026. The couple’s firstborn, a son named Niko, joined their family in July 2024.

Taking to Instagram to share this joyous update, Leavitt expressed her excitement, calling their upcoming addition “the greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for.” Her heartfelt message conveyed the profound happiness that this new chapter brings to her family.

“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” Leavitt wrote. She went on to reflect on the profound gratitude she feels, describing motherhood as “the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”

In her post, Leavitt also extended her appreciation to President Trump, acknowledging the supportive and family-friendly atmosphere he and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles have cultivated within the White House.

‘2026 is going to be a great year and I’m so excited to be a girl mom,’ she concluded in the post.

Leavitt’s social media post brought a wave of well-wishers, however some critics used the moment to insult Leavitt and her family with vile comments.

It comes as the Daily Mail this week took an inside look at the race to replace Leavitt in the White House press secretary hot seat.

Since becoming the face of the White House this year, Leavitt’s marriage to her husband Nick, a real estate developer, has raised questions due to their 32 year age gap.

In March, Leavitt admitted they have a ‘very atypical love story’, and said they first met when she ran for congress in New Hampshire in 2022, a race which she lost.

‘A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,’ Leavitt told Megyn Kelly at the time.

‘I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.’

When The Megyn Kelly Show host asked if there had been any thought in her mind of ‘I can’t date him, he’s 59 and I’m 27?’, Karoline confirmed that she had dealt with initials doubts about how the 32-year age gap would impact the relationship.

‘Yes, of course. I mean it’s a very atypical love story but he’s incredible,’ she gushed. ‘He is my greatest supporter, he’s my best friend and he’s my rock.’

The political aide continued: ‘He’s built a very successful business himself so now he’s fully supportive of me building my success in my career.

‘He’s the father of my child and he’s the best dad I could ever ask for. And he is so supportive, especially during a very chaotic period of life.’

Leavitt’s remark in her pregnancy announcement that Trump is pro-family follows the wife of Stephen Miller, Katie Miller, saying on her podcast that Trump is ‘the most pro-family president ever.’

She said on her podcast two weeks ago: ‘We’ve had yesterday is a great example. Yesterday was taking the train to New York, and we had a bit of childcare issues, and so my husband said, ‘send me all three kids to the West Wing the full day.”

‘Stephen had all three kids from 10am to 6pm in the West Wing, that’s the kind of White House we have. They’re like, bring them in.

‘And the President is so family friendly, right? He doesn’t just talk the talk. He walks the walk, and that’s what’s so great in working for President Trump, and this administration, is he really does do what he says he’s going to do, which is support all families and that includes the ones who worked for him.’

Last month, Leavitt told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview that her marriage had been put under strain by the demands of being the White House press secretary.

She joked that she had PTSD around making plans for date nights with her husband because of how frequently she has to cancel them, and said she now ‘just doesn’t’ try to make the plans.

‘We just roll with it. If there’s a night where I happen to become free, then we take full advantage of that as a family,’ she said.

‘Definitely, it’s very difficult to make plans in this job,’ she continued. ‘My husband and I had three different mini weekend getaway vacations this summer. All three got canceled due to foreign policy events.’
