Kate Gosselin Opens Up About Challenges of Adopting Rescue Dog in Emotional TikTok Video

Kate Gosselin recently opened up about the challenges she’s facing while adjusting to life with her rescue dog, Koda, which has left her feeling quite emotional.

In a candid TikTok video posted on Tuesday, the former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star shared a “day 12 update” regarding her new furry family member, admitting, “I found myself in tears this morning.”

“I’m feeling exhausted and it’s becoming overwhelming,” she confessed. “I might sound like I’m overreacting, but honestly, I’ve been on high alert, constantly watching over them and hoping everything goes smoothly.”

At 51, Gosselin is balancing the demands of caring for two dogs after also adopting Koda’s sister, Meika, which she describes as “a lot to handle.”

Describing Koda, a Belgian Malinois mix, Gosselin said, “She has a huge personality. She’s now as obsessed with her ball as Meika is, and she could run endlessly.”

The former reality star said Koda is exhibiting as much energy as an Alaskan Malamute and it’s starting to make her “doubt” herself.

“[Koda] destroyed a rug yesterday and she tried to destroy — this makes me cry — Nanuq’s bed that used to be Shoka’s,” she said, referring to her former German shepherds.

“It’s our favorite bed. I’ve had it for 15 plus years or more … and it’s very special to me. [Koda] sleeps on it at night. It’s the bed we keep in our room. That really upset me. That would really break my heart. And I know that things get destroyed,” Gosselin added.

The “Dancing With the Stars” alum said the “pressure” and “strain and stress” had been “weighing on” both her and boyfriend Steve Neild; however, they were aware that the rescue process could be hard.

“At the end of the day, probably no one else would have saved her,” she claimed. “So, I know that we’re doing a good thing. We just have to hang in.”

Last December, Gosselin announced that her beloved German Shepherd Nanuq had died.

“I have no words. One minute she was here and healthy. The next, she was gone,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

Kate shares eight kids with her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin: 22-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, Collin and Leah; as well as 25-year-old twins Mady and Cara.
