NAPA, Calif. — Those in the room sat rapt as the captain spoke.
On Tuesday evening, inside an expansive mansion in the Napa Valley hills, U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley found himself moved to tears as he delivered an emotionally charged speech to his 12 players, their caddies, and families.
Bradley showcased videos intended to motivate the team to face the Europeans at Bethpage Black from September 26 to 28. These videos included past Ryder Cup highlights as well as memorable moments specific to each of his 12 players’ accomplishments on the golf course.
“It was a special night,’’ Gary Woodland, one of Bradley’s vice captains, shared with The Post on Wednesday, preceding the Procore Championship at Silverado, where Bradley has gathered 10 of his 12 players to compete and maintain their form for Bethpage Black. “Keegan got emotional. The focus was on uniting the guys a few weeks before the Ryder Cup and fostering relationships beyond just golf. We’re working on building trust to really get to know each other.’’
