The Grammy-winning singer’s announcement came two days before her next scheduled performance.

LAS VEGAS — Kelly Clarkson announced she is postponing her Las Vegas residency shows in August due to a family illness.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson wrote on social media Wednesday. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”

Clarkson was married to music manager Brandon Blackstock from 2013 until they split in 2020. They were officially divorced in 2022. While married, the couple had two children: River Rose, 10, and Remington Alexander, 8.

The Grammy-winning singer’s announcement came two days before her next scheduled performance.

She had five August shows left for the officially titled “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency.” The soonest were set for Friday Aug. 8 and Saturday Aug. 9. It’s unclear if or when the shows will be rescheduled.

She still has four shows scheduled for November.

This postponement comes after the 42-year-old entertainer, known for her powerful vocals since winning the first season of American Idol in 2002, postponed the opening weekend of this residency hours before she was scheduled to take the stage.

Those shows were rescheduled for July 2026, according to Ticketmaster.

Earlier this year, the “The Kelly Clarkson Show” host suddenly disappeared and missed 10 tapings of her show. She was replaced with celebrity guests for the time she was out, sparking questions and concerns about what was going on.

At that time, she said she was fine herself, but was dealing with a “sudden family emergency.”
