Expect the unexpected with a Kieran Culkin speech.

At 42 years old, the actor from “Succession” clinched the SAG Award for his role in “A Real Pain” as the Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role. During his acceptance speech on Sunday, he made a spontaneous shoutout to Adrien Brody.

“Thank you for this incredibly heavy award,” Culkin said as he held up his statue on stage at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium.

“I don’t think there’s any way anyone can hold this for 45 seconds…..which is the allotted time, Adrien Brody. 45 seconds,” he added.

The camera showed Brody, 51, — who is nominated in the lead actor category — laughing from his seat in the audience.

“There was no reason to take that shot; I love you, it’s a joke. You take your time,” Culkin told his fellow actor.

“Lord knows I will, ’cause I didn’t think of anything,” he added.

Aside from Brody, Culkin also expressed gratitude to other individuals such as his co-star and the director and writer of “A Real Pain,” Jesse Eisenberg, as well as his wife Jazz Charton and their children.

Culkin emerged victorious in his category among tough competition including Jonathan Bailey for “Wicked,” Yura Borisov for “Anora,” Edward Norton for “A Complete Unknown,” and even his “Succession” colleague Jeremy Strong for “The Apprentice.”

“A Real Pain” stars Culkin and Eisenberg, 41, as cousins who reunite for a Jewish heritage tour through Poland to honor their late grandmother.

Culkin’s performance in the film has earned him a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award, as well as a nomination at the upcoming Academy Awards.

“It was one of the very, very, very rare scripts that I laughed out loud reading,” Culkin said about the movie in an interview with Vulture in Oct. 2024. “It was that rare thing of, Oh, I know who this character is and I know how to do it.”

Brody, meanwhile, is nominated at the SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for “The Brutalist.”

He’s up against Timothee Chalamet for “A Complete Unknown,” Daniel Craig in “Queer,” Colman Domingo in “Sing Sing” and Ralph Fiennes in “Conclave.”

Brody showed up to the SAG Awards with his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman. He rocked a black tuxedo while Chapman, 48, matched her man in a black tiered dress.

In “The Brutalist,” Brody plays a Holocaust survivor who immigrates to the US. He’s already won at the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Awards and is nominated at the 2025 Oscars.
