Kimberly Guilfoyle Tried to Get Daily Mail Exclusive Pulled

In the days before her swift removal as US ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle reportedly made an urgent effort to have Daily Mail reports about her lavish lifestyle taken offline.

Ahead of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Greece last week, the former Fox News host and diplomat asked State Department officials whether they could persuade the Daily Mail to delete an exclusive report about an unpaid restaurant bill, the Wall Street Journal reports.

People familiar with the exchange said the bill was eventually sent directly to the US Embassy, leaving Guilfoyle unable to provide the Daily Mail with evidence that she had personally paid it.

After Guilfoyle sought the story’s removal, State Department officials reportedly asked her to produce a receipt proving that she had covered the expense out of pocket.

She was unable to provide one.

The unpaid bill was just one element of an evening Guilfoyle appeared determined to keep out of the public eye, while the Daily Mail’s full report remains available online.

The complete story, including its exclusive details, can be read here.

President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were reportedly “extremely pi***ed off” by Guilfoyle’s alleged conduct

Guilfoyle resigned on Tuesday after serving as ambassador for nearly a year, a tenure marked by persistent controversy.

White House press secretary Katie Zacharia announced her departure during her first briefing on Tuesday morning.

The controversy intensified last week when the State Department’s Office of Inspector General opened a formal investigation, a development first reported by the Daily Mail.

In a lengthy statement posted on X, Guilfoyle denied any wrongdoing. She described the allegations as “false” and vowed to “vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity.”

Five sources told the Daily Mail that the OIG’s formal inquiry into Guilfoyle and the operation of the US Embassy is continuing.

Three of those sources said the Inspector General is examining allegations involving potential substance abuse, unauthorized travel on private jets and helicopters, the improper acceptance of gifts, and an unusually close relationship with an energy and construction company.

Guilfoyle’s attorney, Jesse Binnall, previously declined to discuss the specific allegations. He told the Daily Mail that standard policy barred the ambassador from commenting on “internal matters.”

The watchdog investigation follows extensive Daily Mail reporting on Guilfoyle’s high-profile lifestyle in Athens, including luxury travel, galas attended by Greek billionaires, lavish embassy expenses, unpaid bills and close ties to an energy lobbyist.

Her finances also came under renewed scrutiny after a Wall Street Journal report revealed text messages allegedly showing Guilfoyle pressuring a conservative activist in Kentucky to help settle her $100,000 American Express bill in July 2025.

The Daily Mail also exclusively reported a $250,000 solicitation to rich Greek businessmen to pay off her luxury G-wagon.

One source familiar with the inspector general’s probe said she was doing ‘the complete opposite’ of what a political appointee should.

Zacharia did not respond when asked who might replace her.
