KISS co-founder Gene Simmons is said to be doing “fine” after crashing his SUV into a parked car along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
The crash occurred early Tuesday afternoon, just before 1 p.m., near Malibu Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Simmons, 76, reportedly lost consciousness behind the wheel of his Lincoln Navigator and veered across several lanes before slamming into a parked vehicle. His wife, Shannon Tweed Simmons, told TMZ that her husband had recently been prescribed new medication and was dehydrated, which caused him to black out.
No other injuries were reported.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Simmons to a hospital for evaluation. He has since been discharged.
“Mr. Simmons is totally fine from this minor fender bender. Thanks for checking,” a representative for the rocker told local affiliate KTLA in a statement.
KISS retired from touring in 2023 but is slated to reunite for a special “unmasked” fan event in Las Vegas from Nov. 14–16 to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary.
