UNINCORP. LOWELL, Ind. (WLS) — A tragic scene unfolded in a northwest Indiana antiques store on Saturday night when a gunman reportedly opened fire, resulting in one person dead and another injured before the shooter took his own life, as per police reports.
Officers from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Indiana State Police, swiftly arrived at the scene at Karmic Sunshine, a store located at 2996 West 181st Avenue in unincorporated Lowell, shortly after 7 p.m.

Authorities revealed that a 62-year-old male shooter fatally wounded a woman and shot a 24-year-old female who was attempting to flee. The suspect is believed to have succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The woman who was injured in the incident was transported to a hospital, where she is currently reported to be in stable condition.
During the tragic event, a child and another man were present in the store but fortunately escaped without injury.

Police are investigating and said there is not further danger to the public.
