Tourism in Las Vegas down again, drops 12% in July

() The number of tourists coming to Las Vegas dropped for the seventh straight month in July.

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Sin City saw a 12% decline in visitors in July of 2025 compared to a year ago, hosting nearly 3.1 million people. Convention attendance has also been up and down, decreasing 10% in June but up 10% in July.

The overall downturn has caused alarm for Las Vegas because the city’s economy is almost entirely dependent on tourism. Bruce Rosenberg, global president of HotelPlanner, told that with the costs of drinks averaging $20 to $25 and the high cost of hotel resort fees, Vegas has gotten “too expensive.”

These costs have often led visitors to check into resorts in small rural towns near Vegas.

With the high costs, some resorts have been leaning heavily into promotions. Resorts World has waived resort fees and paid parking through Sept. 10, and Sahara Las Vegas has many perks, like free late checkout, free parking and upgrades on select stays, according to The Points Guy.
