Lovers of classic ’80s comedies and cherished cartoon series received a delightful surprise on Wednesday when a top star from that era made a rare public appearance in Los Angeles.

The 86-year-old actress, famous for portraying the endearing housekeeper Pearl on Diff’rent Strokes, appeared lively and cheerful as she enjoyed a lunch outing at the celebrity-favorite venue The Smokehouse in Burbank.

She was seen wearing an amusing floral top paired with matching leggings, a stark contrast to the bold outfits she donned as Rita with Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton in the 1982 film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

Longtime fans also know her as the voice of driving school teacher Mrs. Puff on SpongeBob SquarePants, a role that has become her longest-running and most well-known gig.
