Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror’s Attorney Rejects Law Defiance Claim

The attorney representing the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial is rejecting the suggestion that his client refused to apply the law. Speaking with Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany, attorney Edward Paltzik said juror Michael P. Desronvil had no uncertainty about his decision.

In a preview of an interview scheduled to air Monday on “Fox & Friends,” McEnany asked Paltzik whether Desronvil had ever experienced reasonable doubt. The question followed a note from the jury foreperson accusing the juror of refusing to follow the judge’s instructions on the legal standard.

“Michael had zero doubt,” Paltzik said.

“Zero doubt. No doubt. And he had evidence to back up his position?” McEnany responded.

“A lot of evidence. A mountain of evidence,” Paltzik replied.

Desronvil remained the only juror seeking a conviction after seven days of deliberations in Clancy’s trial. The other 11 jurors were prepared to find the former labor and delivery nurse not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on Sept. 4.

Clancy acknowledged killing 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan at the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. Her defense maintained that postpartum psychosis made her not criminally responsible for the killings. Prosecutors argued that Clancy understood her actions and deliberately planned the deaths.

Desronvil later said he believed the physical evidence and witness testimony demonstrated that Clancy knew what she was doing. Prosecutors have not said whether they plan to retry the case. Clancy is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29.
