Lindsay Clancy Trial Holdout Juror’s Lawyers Plan Bar Complaint Against Reddington

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Attorneys representing the lone holdout juror in the mistrial of Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy say they intend to file a bar complaint against Clancy’s defense attorney, alleging he improperly targeted their client during proceedings involving the strangling deaths of her three children.

“I can tell you, we’re gonna file a bar complaint,” attorney Tyler Cox told Fox News host Sean Hannity during an appearance on his show Tuesday night.

Kevin Reddington, a longtime Massachusetts defense attorney, told the court Tuesday that he was tired of being accused of “persecuting” the juror, who was the only member of the 12-person panel seeking to convict Clancy.

“He said that all he’s done is file a motion,” Cox said. “Even if you accept that claim, which it obviously isn’t, the motion itself was unprecedented. You don’t attack jurors this way, and you don’t single one of them out. We’re going to file a bar complaint.”

Plymouth County prosecutors have separately sought a gag order, arguing that Reddington helped make the holdout juror’s identity public. They also accused him of wasting the other jurors’ time and undermining Clancy’s chance of being acquitted.

“In the same instances, defense counsel praised the foreperson as courageous and described the jurors, minus one, as attentive, beautiful and wonderful,” Assistant Plymouth County District Attorneys Jennifer Sprague and Shanan Buckingham wrote.

“Under the caselaw and ethical rules, limitations on lawyers’ speech are aimed at two principal harms: statements likely to influence the trial’s outcome and statements likely to prejudice the jury pool,” the prosecutors added.

Reddington has referred to the holdout juror as “the obstructionist” and spent the first part of the week exchanging sharp remarks with Edward Paltzik, another attorney representing the juror.

Clancy is scheduled to return to court Nov. 2 for a motion hearing. The timing of a possible retrial remains uncertain, and no new trial date has been established after both sides told Judge William Sullivan they needed additional time.
