Defense accuses prosecution of shocking ‘hot mic’ moment on Friday
In a dramatic courtroom incident last week, defense attorney Kevin Reddington leveled a serious accusation against the prosecution. He claimed that during the display of autopsy photographs of Lindsay Clancy, someone on the prosecution team was caught on a hot mic instructing to “shut her up.” This incident instantly caught the attention of the courtroom.
After a brief morning recess, as the court convened, Reddington took the opportunity to bring the matter to light before the jury re-entered the room, signaling that he had a significant point to address.
Although the judge suggested handling the issue quietly through a sidebar, Reddington firmly declined. “No, I don’t want to do it on sidebar,” he insisted, underscoring the weight of his allegations.
“They were caught on a hot mic saying ‘shut her up’ during the playing of the autopsy,” Reddington exclaimed, directing his accusations directly at the prosecutors with a pointed gesture.
Following this explosive declaration, both sets of attorneys were immediately called to the judge’s bench. The ensuing sidebar discussion was shrouded in secrecy as the courtroom’s sound system ensured their conversation remained confidential.
On Thursday, medical examiner Dr Kimberley Springer testified about carrying out Callan’s autopsy. Graphic autopsy photos were also shown to the jury.
During her testimony, Clancy broke down – sobbing loudly and uncontrollably at the defense table.
