A victory sealed with a kiss.
In a touching moment, Lionel Messi celebrated his debut MLS Cup triumph on Saturday by sharing an emotional embrace with his wife, Antonela.
Following Inter Miami’s 3-1 victory over Vancouver in the final, the 38-year-old soccer legend was seen reuniting with Antonela in a private box at Fort Lauderdale’s Chase Stadium. ESPN cameras captured the couple’s joyous moment as they celebrated with a kiss.
Married to Messi since 2017, Antonela later joined her husband on the field, where they posed with the MLS Cup alongside his teammates and their partners.
“This is a beautiful, emotional moment for us and the people of Miami,” Messi expressed after leading the club to its first championship, as reported by ESPN. “It’s a relatively new club, and although we had prior successes, winning the MLS was the primary goal. We aimed to be at the top of the American league, and thankfully, we achieved that.”
The victory came roughly two years after Messi announced he was joining the MLS club, whose ownership group boasts soccer legend David Beckham.
Beckham, 50, celebrated with wife Victoria and their children while also embracing Messi on the field.
“He’s not just here to enjoy living in Miami,” said Beckham, who called it a career as a player in 2013. “His wife and the kids love Miami, but he’s come here to win, and that’s really what Leo is all about. He wants to win. He’s got that dedication, the loyalty that he shows to his teammates, to the city, to the club. Leo is a winner. It’s simple as that.”
Messi played for Paris Saint-Germain in France from 2021-23 before taking his talents stateside.
