The ongoing conflict is likely to have prolonged effects, with UK consumers potentially facing increased costs in energy bills, mortgage rates, and everyday grocery prices as a result of this turmoil.

In a recent statement, the CEO of Octopus Energy highlighted the current state of “turmoil” in energy markets due to the escalating Middle Eastern conflict that erupted on Saturday.

In response to skyrocketing oil and gas prices, the UK’s largest household energy provider has raised fixed-price tariffs and implemented exit fees for those choosing these plans.

A raft of other major suppliers have pulled fixed-price tariff deals completely. In the week since attacks first started between Iran and US-Israeli forces, the number of fixed deals available has more than halved, according to data from Uswitch.
