Lizzo reveals secret to slimdown -- and finally sets record straight on Ozempic use

It’s about damn time.

Lizzo revealed the secret to her slimdown — and clarified her Ozempic use — months after clapping back at rumors about the weight-loss drug.

“I’ve tried everything,” the singer, 37, said on Trisha Paytas’ “Just Trish” podcast Thursday.

However, the Grammy winner explained that she abandoned semaglutide early into her transformation.

She mentioned that Ozempic functions by decreasing your food intake, leading you to consume less food. According to her, eating correctly with the medication can give you a feeling of fullness. However, she pointed out that achieving the same results by training your mind to control your eating habits is equally effective.

Lizzo revealed that she saw the best results when she ditched her vegan diet.

She reflected on her past experience of following a vegan diet, where she heavily relied on fake meats, bread, and rice to satisfy her hunger. She found herself needing to eat large quantities of these foods to feel full.

It was only when she transitioned to a diet centered around whole foods like beef, chicken, and fish that she noticed a significant change. By opting for these wholesome options, she discovered that she could feel satiated without overloading her stomach with artificial substitutes that did not provide genuine satisfaction.

She went on to defend those who use Ozempic to lose weight.

“It’s not easy,” Lizzo insisted. “It’s a drug to help somebody with something they’re struggling with.”

She added that “telling someone they’re cheating” is a “way of being fatphobic.”

Lizzo made headlines in September 2024 for hitting back at an Instagram hater questioning whether she was taking the type II diabetes drug.

“whyyyy [sic] do u follow me?” she asked at the time.

The following year, Lizzo explained that she had, instead, applied “a calorie deficit” and cut “sugary stuff” from her diet.

“Everybody’s body is different,” she reminded her social media followers in April. “Find out what works for you.”
