As SNAP benefits face potential disruption at the start of November amid the ongoing government shutdown, a coffee shop in Portland, Oregon, has taken significant action to support those in need.

Heretic Coffee Co. has launched the “SNAP Breakfast” initiative, offering complimentary meals to individuals impacted by SNAP funding uncertainties, with no questions asked.

Since the program’s inception, the coffee shop has successfully raised over $350,000 and provided free meals to more than 1,000 individuals.

The shop’s owner, Josh White, expressed that the overwhelming support illustrates how “people will feed one another when they’re hungry.”
