It’s a Knicks celebration like no other.
On Long Island, a devoted New York Knicks fan is marking the team’s remarkable journey to the NBA Finals with a spectacular light show featuring 10,000 LED lights. This dazzling display, which cost $5,000 and required 40 hours of installation time, is a testament to his loyalty and enthusiasm.
James Hentschel, renowned for his extravagant light displays at his Deer Park residence, has been illuminating his home in the Knicks’ signature blue and orange hues since the first game of the series.
“If they win tonight, the lights will stay up for at least a week or two. If they lose, they’ll stay on until they clinch a victory,” the 48-year-old contractor shared with The Post on Saturday.
Hentschel bought the Govee curtain lights last year and meticulously set them up around both the front and back of his house to create this vibrant tribute.
The lights are connected to an app, which enables him to change the scenes year-round for every celebration from Halloween and Christmas to the Fourth of July and his children’s birthday.
On Sunday, he will also be adding a light display for the UFC Freedom 250, which is being held on the South Lawn of the White House.
Hentschel, who also commemorated the Knicks’ playoff run last year outside his house, said neighbors near and far drive by to marvel at the decorations.
“Cars just stop, take pictures, stop, take pictures … and videos,” he said.
His wife isn’t as excited about being in the limelight.
“She tolerates it, I would say. It’s not her favorite thing. But it occupies me and keeps me happy.”
