FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A routine traffic stop in Fort Wayne last week uncovered a significant stash of cocaine cleverly hidden beneath a dog cage in the back of a pickup truck.
The Fort Wayne Police Department reported that on Thursday, November 6, detectives from the narcotics division stopped a Chevy Silverado with Florida plates for speeding. A K-9 unit was brought in, and the dog signaled the possible presence of drugs.

Upon asking the driver to exit the vehicle, officers noticed a handgun in plain sight. In the truck bed, a large dog was housed in a cage. Beneath this cage, officers discovered a hidden compartment. Inside, they found approximately 30 individually wrapped kilos of cocaine, totaling over 65 pounds, with a street value exceeding $600,000.
