JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 20s died after crashing into a car in Jacksonville while he was riding his motorcycle, officials say.
It happened at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Kings road and Whitmore Drive. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the man was going westbound on Kings Road as a woman was driving a Hyundai southbound on Whitmore Drive.
Officers say he struck the front driver’s side door of the car.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities say the woman was also taken to a hospital, where she is stable.
JSO said this marks the 134th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 36th involving a motorcycle.
As of 9:30 p.m., officers say the 1500 block of Kings Road will be closed off for another hour as an investigation continues.
