Jefferson County Sheriff's Office announces arrest of man for drug, gun charges

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of man after seizing drugs and guns from a Birmingham residence Tuesday.

Robert Earl Wingate, 35, is charged with certain persons forbidden, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two counts of drug trafficking. He is in custody with a bond over $1 million.

The JCSO stated it executed a search warrant in the 900 block of 47th Place North. Its narcotics unit seized drugs, guns and cell phones.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the JCSO at 205-325-1450 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
