Authorities arrested a 40-year-old man early Wednesday who is accused of plotting an attack on the Texas Capitol.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said it received “credible information about an individual planning a violent attack” scheduled for Thursday in Austin.
The tip was reported Tuesday evening. SWAT officers arrested the suspect at about 3 a.m. Wednesday at a residence in Converse, near San Antonio.
Benny Caldera Jr. could face charges, including felony terroristic threat against a public servant, according to a DPS statement.
Caldera was booked into jail and later released on a $75,000 bond, online court records show.

Messages seeking comment were left for John Bunk, the attorney listed as representing Caldera.
Authorities have not disclosed details about the alleged plot, saying the investigation remains ongoing.

DPS alerted state lawmakers to the threat and arrest early Wednesday. The Capitol continued operating during its regular hours.
Texas Senate Secretary Patsy Spaw said in a notice that security would be increased at the Capitol while the investigation continues.
Gov. Greg Abbott said the FBI assisted Texas DPS with the arrest.
“Texas will NOT tolerate threats of violence against our Capitol,” Abbott said in a statement posted on social media.
