EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio A man has been indicted after allegedly shooting and killing his grandfather and brother, and also wounding two officers during an East Cleveland manhunt, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.

Aaron Sharp, 24, was charged with the following, according to the prosecutor’s office:

  • Two counts of aggravated murder
  • Four counts of murder
  • Two counts of attempted aggravated murder
  • Eight counts of felonious assault
  • Two counts of tampering with evidence

The initial 911 call was for a domestic shooting at the Taylor Road home at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 7, which is where Officer Joshua Durda encountered Sharp outside of the home and was shot in the leg.

That triggered a manhunt during which East Cleveland Officer Brandon Hernandez was also shot.

Sharp was arrested the next morning by U.S. Marshals, who used a Taser when he was found hiding in bushes near Shaw High School, having taken off all of his clothes and wrapped himself in plastic bags.

Sharp’s grandfather, Charles Roscoe, 82, and brother, Erik Sharp, 22, were both killed in the shootings, which court documents said was planned.

Both officers are expected to make a full recovery.

“We see a lot of tragedy come before us, and this one is especially painful,” Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said in a statement Tuesday. “The amount of grief Aaron Sharp has caused his family is unimaginable. We will hold him accountable for his actions, and we pray that the family can recover from this horrific event.”

Sharp could face life in prison if convicted on the aggravated murder charges. An arraignment is taking place later at Cuyahoga County Justice Center.
