Man Collides with Light Pole Following Shooting Incident in Lackawanna, Reports JSO

At the time of this report, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirms the victim is in stable condition.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a man is recovering in stable condition after his car was riddled with bullets and subsequently crashed into a light pole in the Lakawanna neighborhood.

Authorities report that officers were dispatched around 8:18 p.m. on Sunday to a residence on the 200 block of Shortreed Street following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a man inside his vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department promptly transported the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he is currently listed as stable.

Initially unable to communicate with the victim due to his condition upon reaching the hospital, investigators from JSO have gathered that the shooting occurred while the victim was seated in his car. An unidentified male suspect reportedly approached from behind and began firing.

After fleeing the scene, the victim is said to have crashed his car into a nearby light pole.
