The driver crashed his car into a nearby home after he was shot near Kimball and Belmont, police said.

The 32-year-old man who was shot was traveling in his vehicle when he was approached by a light-colored pickup truck with two unknown men who fired multiple gunshots and then fled in an unknown direction, CPD said.

The victim was hit in the head and crashed, causing property damage to a home, police said.

A local resident, along with others, saw what happened and rushed to help the victim.

“I was walking outside my apartment I saw basically I think it was a road rage incident,” witness David Martinez said. “A couple shots and saw them crash into the building. I saw the young man get shot. A young lady screaming help help. Went to go stabilize him. He got shot in the head. Me and another neighbor helped push the fence away so they could get to him.”

The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, Chicago police said.

There are no offenders in custody. Area Five Detectives are investigating.
