BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Birmingham man pleaded guilty to gun and drug charges Friday, according to Prim F. Escalona.
Isiah Henley, 31, pleaded guilty to distribution to methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, carrying a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, possession of a machine gun, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, in July and Aug. 2024, Henley sold methamphetamine and fentanyl to a confidential informant on three occasions. Henley also sold methamphetamine and fentanyl to an informant in Birmingham on Aug. 8, 2024. When agents attempted to arrest him at a residence, he fled from police, dropped a bag, and agents noticed that he had a firearm.
He was ordered to drop his firearm, and he threw it into a vacant lot before being arrested. Law enforcement was able to recover the weapon and found it to include a Glock switch with an extended magazine that was fully loaded. Officers also recovered more methamphetamine and fentanyl when they recovered the bag he dropped.
