The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect admitted to having sexual contact with the victim.
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Clearwater man accused of sexual battery on a child was arrested and charged Friday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit said Bobby McAffee, 62, was identified as a suspect after an underage victim reported being sexually battered when he was 8 years old.
The investigation, which began Aug. 23, 2024, found the incident happened in St. Petersburg.
Investigators said on Friday, as detectives were interviewing McAffee, he admitted to having sexual contact with the victim.
McAffee also told detectives he tested positive for HIV and the victim recently discovered he was positive for HIV, according to investigators.
McAffee faces one count of sexual battery of a child less than 12 years old.
He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail after his arrest.
The investigation is ongoing.
