The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Derrius Bauer’s sentencing marks the end to the agency’s “most extensive investigation” in its history.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A man who the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said was an accomplice to a convicted murderer who shot and killed a man outside of a Palm Coast Circle K in 2019 was sentenced Wednesday, the sheriff’s office told First Coast News on Friday.

Derrius Bauer, 30, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday after pleading no contest to accessory after the fact, a capital offense, in the murder of Deon Jenkins, according to the FCSO. Judge Dawn Nichols gave Bauer credit for 1,540 days of time served, which equals four years and just over two months.

The sheriff’s office said in a news release Bauer’s conviction and sentencing marks the end of the “most extensive investigation in the history” of the FSCO which “involved 15 partner agencies.”

On Oct. 12, 2019, Marcus Chamblin shot and killed Jenkins outside of a Circle K gas station in Palm Coast before fleeing the state with Bauer, FCSO also said in the release.

Chamblin was sentenced to life in prison in April 2024, as a jury found him guilty on first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle charges.

“This guy tried to thwart our investigation at every turn, but in the end it failed and he is now joining his dirtbag friend in prison,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said about Bauer. “Even after Marcus Chamblin was convicted, Bauer continued to play games, but eventually the rolling of the dice and likely spending life in prison changed his mind. I believe he finally got smart and made a better choice, because our detectives and partners built a strong case that he would have likely spent the rest of his life in prison if a jury convicted him at a trial.”
