Authorities reported a violent incident at a local gas station late Sunday night, which left a man seriously injured. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the victim is in a “serious but stable” condition following the attack.

The unsettling events unfolded around 11 p.m. on Sunday when officers responded to reports of gunfire at a Sunoco station located on Kings Road. Shortly after, they learned that a man in his 30s had made his way to a nearby hospital. The wounded man disclosed to police that he had been shot at the gas station.

The victim recounted to officers that upon arriving at the Sunoco with his wife, he remained outside while she went inside. During this time, he encountered two individuals behind the station. This interaction escalated into a verbal altercation, during which one suspect allegedly shot him in the stomach. Meanwhile, the second suspect reportedly inflicted a stab wound to his face.

Following the assault, the suspects fled the scene on foot. As of now, the direction in which they escaped remains unknown. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, seeking any information that might lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators.

After the incident, JSO states that the suspects had fled the gas station on foot in “an unknown direction of travel.”

According to JSO, they are unable to speak to the victim due to his injuries, who is said to be in “serious but stable” condition.

JSO encourages any information regarding this incident to be sent to the non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can use Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-tips or email them at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org.
