The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the victim and suspect were arguing about a “previous dispute” before the victim was shot.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering after being shot in the foot during an argument with the suspect at a Wawa on Jacksonville’s Westside early Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO Sgt. Mitlyng, officers responded to the shooting at the Wawa located at 970 Cassat Ave. around 3 a.m.

Mitlyng told First Coast News the victim and suspect got into an argument about a previous dispute, which escalated to the shooting.

When officers arrived, Mitlyng said the victim, identified as a man in his 30s, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot. According to Mitlyng, the man’s injury is non-life-threatening.

Mitlyng said the man was then taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

“The suspect and victim are known to one another, and this is believed to be an isolated incident,” Mitlyng said.

Mitlyng said the sheriff’s office does not have a description of the suspect.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
