JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died after being shot in Jacksonville’s Panama Park area Tuesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sergeant M. W. Highfill said at about 9:40 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 400 block of East 46th Street after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the man, believed to be around 25 years old, with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and neck, Highfill told First Coast News.
Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded and took the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators also responded to the scene and are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office and State Attorney’s Office on an investigation into the incident.
“At this time, the circumstances that led to the victim’s death are unknown other than a witness who heard arguing in Spanish before the gunshots,” Highfill said. “No suspect information has been developed other than possibly a Hispanic male.”
