LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police arrested a man kayaking in the Bellagio Fountains during a protest against President Donald Trump, documents said.

Several hundred people protested on the Las Vegas Strip on Monday as part of national “Not My Presidents’ Day” rallies. Officers arrested Trenton Barnes on charges including trespass and disorderly conduct, documents said.

Around 5 p.m., officers saw Barnes in a kayak in the water and holding a sign, documents said. Officers said staff at the Bellagio tried repeatedly to remove him from the water. He “eventually paddled toward the edge of the fountains” and officers took him into custody, police said.

Because the charges are misdemeanors, a judge released Barnes without him having to post bond, records said.

It was not immediately clear Wednesday if police made any other arrests during Monday’s protest.

A photo from the incident showed the man holding up a sign promoting a cryptocurrency. Police said Barnes was “holding a sign related to the [Trump] protest.”

Earlier this month, police arrested five people during an immigration-related protest in the east valley. Since the president took office in mid-January, several peaceful protests have occurred on the Las Vegas Strip and near the Trump International Hotel.
