JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering after a shooting on the city’s Mid-Westside Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Wilcox Street around 6:17 p.m. regarding multiple shots fired.
A short time later, officers were dispatched to a hospital regarding a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said the victim, a man in his mid-30s, was shot in the stomach. His injuries were serious but not life-threatening, police said.
Investigators believe the victim was standing near a fire pit in the 1200 block of Hart Street, which intersects with Wilcox Street, when at least two suspects walked up and started shooting. Police found multiple gun shell casings around the area.
Police said after the victim was shot, someone he knows drove him to the hospital.

Detectives were on the scene canvassing for evidence and speaking with possible witnesses.
The incident appears to be isolated, and there is no threat to the community.
