The holiday season for 2025 has officially begun, ushered in by none other than the “Queen of Christmas” herself.
While opinions may vary about whether the Christmas festivities should start immediately on November 1 or be postponed until after Thanksgiving, Mariah Carey leaves no room for debate. The iconic singer, known for the perennial holiday anthem “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” ceremoniously heralded the season at the stroke of midnight on November 1 with her much-anticipated annual video.
This year’s spirited video, in collaboration with beauty retailer Sephora, featured an entertaining twist with actor and comedian Billy Eichner making a memorable appearance as a disgruntled elf.
Since 2019, Carey has delighted fans with these playful videos, creatively marking the transition into the holiday period with her beloved festive hit. Last year’s video showcased a delightful Addams Family theme, further solidifying her reign over the Christmas season.
Carey has celebrated the turn of the calendar with cheeky videos featuring her chart-topping holiday song since 2019. Last year’s video was Addams Family-themed.
The singer’s 2025 announcement video comes days after the singer partnered with Bucket Listers to launch holiday-themed pop-up bars in four U.S. cities.
Mariah Carey’s Holiday Bar will launch on Nov. 13 in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The bars will be decked with Mariah-themed decor, Santa Sleigh photo opportunities, themed cocktails and more.
Carey will also have a Las Vegas residency for three weeks in late November and December.
Her Christmas-themed shows will kick off the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, and run through Dec. 13.
Initially released in 1994, the iconic Christmas track first entered the Hot 100’s top 10 in December 2017. The song first topped the chart in 2019. Last year marked the sixth year in a row that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was back at No. 1.
Back in 2021, it was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), making it the first holiday single to earn the award.
