HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — In a significant blow to international drug trafficking, Huntsville police have successfully dismantled a cocaine smuggling network that operated between Mexico and the Huntsville, Madison County region.
Law enforcement agents in Huntsville reported the seizure of over 28 pounds of cocaine, a haul with a street value estimated at a staggering $1,275,300. In addition, authorities confiscated around $7,450 in cash, along with two vehicles and two trailers, believed to be instrumental in the sophisticated drug trafficking scheme.
The operation culminated in the arrest of four suspects on July 9, in the 4500 block of Research Park Boulevard. This significant bust followed an exhaustive investigation conducted by the North Alabama Drug Task Force and the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, showcasing inter-agency collaboration at its finest.
The individuals taken into custody on charges of cocaine trafficking are as follows:
Each is being held on $1.5 million bail.
“Every investigation we conduct is about keeping dangerous drugs out of our communities and holding those responsible accountable for bringing them here,” NADTF Commander Lt. Joseph Kennington said. “Our agents, along with our law enforcement partners, will continue working to identify and dismantle drug trafficking organizations that threaten the safety of north Alabama.”
