() The Trump administration has fired federal prosecutor Maurene Comey, who worked on high-profile criminal cases such as those of Jeffrey Epstein and Sean “Diddy” Combs, according to sources.

A veteran lawyer in the Southern District of New York, Comey is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey.

Trump fired James Comey in 2017 amid an investigation into ties between Russia and his first presidential campaign.

While Trump’s Justice Department has previously fired federal lawyers working on cases that have provoked the president, Maurene Comey has long been seen as a potential target given Trump’s soured relationship with her father and her ties to the escalating Epstein files fallout.

No official reason has been reported for Maurene Comey’s firing. Neither the Justice Department nor the White House has issued a statement.

Maurene Comey firing comes amid Epstein file fallout

Comey’s termination comes as U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi faces growing scrutiny over a joint memo announcing there is no client list for Epstein as even Trump’s most loyal followers press for more information about the documents.

In a lengthy social media post earlier this week, Trump decried the list as a hoax, blaming Democrats for perpetuating a fixation on the documents and calling conservatives who want answers “past supporters.”

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bulls‑‑‑,’ hook, line, and sinker,” Trump posted. “They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.”

While Democrats push for declassification of the files, much of the pushback on Bondi and Trump administration officials comes from fellow conservatives like Reps. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., and Lauren Boebert, R-Colo..

Trump has vocally backed Bondi on her handling of the situation and has asked his followers to let her “do her job.”
