Meghan Markle reveals key question Archie asked her during Disney trip

Meghan Markle has left royal fans baffled after revealing the question her son Prince Archie asked during their recent family trip to Disneyland.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, and her husband Prince Harry, 41, took their two children to the popular destination in June for their daughter Lilibet’s fourth birthday, just before appearing in an ABC News special about the famed resort.

Titled The Happiest Story On Earth: 70 Years Of Disneyland, the documentary, which aired on Sunday, featured the Duke and Duchess discussing their recent visit and sharing family photos from the joyful holiday.

The Sussexes clearly enjoyed their time at the park, with Archie and Lili meeting Princess Elsa from Frozen and enjoying rides together. Lili even received a Little Mermaid-themed cake with her name elegantly written in pink icing.

Speaking in the programme, Meghan explained that they’d had such a brilliant time that her son Archie asked her ‘when’s my birthday?’ after their whirlwind trip.

The Duchess said: ‘For us to be able to have our own childhood memories and then watch that play out through our daughter’s birthday, and Archie said, “When’s my birthday?”

Her comments have since led to confusion online, as many were surprised by the revelation that Archie, who is six, still does not know his own birthday date.

People pointed out that the youngster, who lives with his parents in Montecito in California, had celebrated his own birthday just the month prior – with Meghan posting an atmospheric sunset photo at an exclusive Mexican resort for the occasion back in May.

However, some pointed out that Archie may have merely been asking how long it was to his next birthday after having such a joyful time at Lili’s party. ‘I think he was asking how far away his birthday was, not the date,’ commented one X user.

One royal fan wrote on social media: ‘A 6-year-old who doesn’t know his own birthday… our 3-year-old knows hers!’

Another asked: ‘Is it normal for a six-year-old to not know when his birthday is? Especially if it was the previous month?’

Others said: ‘Considering his is May and Lilibet’s is June, his would have been just a few weeks before this pic was taken! What an odd question to ask, just after he had actually had his birthday’;

‘A 6-year-old should know when their birthday is. They should know that earlier than 6, along with their address, last name, parents’ name, etc’;

‘Kids, by the age of 6, are typically very proud to tell you when their birthday is and know exactly how many months before it is their birthday.’

Others shared stories from their own family, again questioning Meghan’s comments.

One person said: ‘My 3-year-old granddaughter knows the date of hers. She can also say the month of her family members, parents, sibling, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. She can also tell you which month we are in.’

Elsewhere during the documentary, Prince Harry said: ‘To see the kids throw themselves into these experiences when they have no idea what they’re walking into, it was amazing. It brings out the kid in you again.’

Following the release of the show, Meghan shared a sweet unseen photograph of Archie and Lili enjoying their trip.

One snap showed Lilibet and Archie admiring a The Little Mermaid-themed cake, featuring the writing ‘Happy Birthday Lili’ to mark the Princess’ fourth birthday, alongside two tiers of characters, including Ariel and the crab, Sebastian.

Wanting to guard their children’s privacy, the image shared by Harry and Meghan on the documentary showed only the backs of the young siblings.

Archie and Lili were captured leaning against one another in the adorable photo, with the Princess reaching towards her impressive cake.

The sweet treat was surrounded by an array of tasty-looking food and vibrant flowers, as well as a balloon that read Disneyland.

Back in June, Meghan uploaded an Instagram post that included special moments from their visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.

She shared a video montage from the two-day Disneyland vacation as the family had a blast on numerous rides and indulged in delicious treats.

Meghan and Harry’s children also had fun on some rides at the amusement park such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Cars ride.

The couple were spotted having a blast of their own as they sat at the front while on Space Mountain together.

One short reel included in the post was taken as the family-of-four excitedly explored Disneyland and also visited the Star Wars troopers.

Harry flashed a cheerful smile as he turned towards the camera while sitting next to Lilibet on another ride.

In the caption, Meghan had penned to her followers: ‘Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!’

Appearing on Sunday’s documentary, Harry discussed their recent trip, saying: ‘To see the kids throw themselves into these experiences when they have no idea what they’re walking into – it was amazing. And it brings out the kid in you again.’

‘They’re like, “This is amazing!” the father-of-two recalled of his children’s response before entering the main park.

‘Like, “Guys, this isn’t even the front of it. Prepare yourself. You’re about to be blown away”.’

Elsewhere on the special, the Duke recalled ‘losing it’ over his excitement while visiting Disney World with his late mother Princess Diana and older brother Prince William as a child.

When he was eight years old, Harry joined his two family members on a trip to the Florida destination in 1993.

‘I remember it very, very well. I remember losing it as a kid with all the characters. Like, losing it,’ he shared.

Meghan chimed in to share that the amusement park was ‘more accessible’ to her due to being born and raised in the Southern California area, but it was ‘still the biggest treat in the world’.

The Suits alum also remembered visiting Disneyland for grad night when she was in high school.

‘I don’t even know why they let us do that,’ she said, with her husband jokingly adding, ‘That sounds like a lot of fun. Can you do that in your forties?’

Harry and Meghan’s appearance on the 20/20 special came just one day after the pair made a surprise joint appearance at Kevin Costner’s star-studded charity event in Santa Barbara on Saturday.

The former actress joined her husband at the One805LIVE! concert which took place at the Yellowstone actor’s oceanside estate – with other celebrities in attendance such as Oprah Winfrey.
