The Menendez brothers having a shot at parole is proof that we are too easy on criminals

Killers’ dues rarely paid

I have returned from my trip to Florida once again. The place is filled with palm trees, more than you would see with an East Side restaurant host. However, I am thrilled to be back home where I can devour a towering pastrami sandwich from the Second Avenue Deli. I am especially grateful for the week off I had for my birthday, during which I didn’t even pester Post Editor-in-Chief Keith Poole about a well-deserved raise.

Having demonstrated my enormous gentility and warmth — it’s back to my usual crankiness:

It baffles me how our concept of justice seems to be tainted by corruption. Look at New York’s District Attorney Bragg, who seems to have a questionable fondness for thieves. And let’s not forget the judge from last week who aided a convict in escaping.

Those nice boys

Or nice children Lyle and his brother Erik Menendez who murdered both parents nearly 40 years ago and are now being considered as doing enough time?

The idea of granting leniency to heinous criminals is now being considered. Let’s not forget, Lyle and Erik, the young boys who were not just involved in a simple robbery but were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison after a lengthy trial. There was never any mention of the possibility of parole. And now, the suggestion to potentially release them – is this a form of rewarding their actions?

Shove buying mommy a Mother’s Day fragrance. Instead, reward ice-cold first-degree brutal killers for murdering both mommy and daddy. This way they mark the holiday with just a few cheap bullets. Only 10 shots into mommy — so there’d be no mistake. Same into daddy. Maybe mommy’s pot roast wasn’t delicious — but 10 bullets into your own mother? Seems a little rude.

So, aside from their enriched legal people, can someone say how USA’s bettered by freeing two brutal killer kids who pumped their parents full of lead? Is it the right thing to do? OK, jail food isn’t four-star, but still, is it what the DAR — Daughters of the American Revolution — would’ve supported?

Never said sorry

What is the value of releasing these sickos? So they can someday get married and have kids?

What is justice supposed to do? Set an example? Rehabilitate? Or judges only wear robes so they can issue traffic tickets? This is why we have high-level intellects sitting on high benches?

These murderers always claimed they were victims. Like a strange gun — alone, by itself — just somehow went off nearly 20 times to one parent and then another? Me, I always claimed they were cold-blooded killers. Murderers.

What’s a crime?

So only pickpocketing is a crime? Parking too close to a fireplug, theft, robbery, assault, counterfeiting, money laundering, helping your president dad maybe helping himself — these are legit crimes. Seems that murder is coming off tantamount to a misdemeanor. Like spitting on a sidewalk.

Taking a knee? That’s OK. Joining an anti-US rally? Still OK. Grabbing someone else’s dog? Not OK. But knocking off your legal parent — considered rude in some cases, but as all of us newly enlightened Americans can freshly understand — and as newly proven here — not bad enough to keep you behind bars.

George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton. America the Beautiful.

Said a jurist to the two murderers: “You’ve paid your dues.”

Said one brother in return: “You’re right. And if everyone else worked as hard as we did they’d be on the road to prosperity.”

Only in America, kids, only in America.
