Expressing her joy, she exclaimed, “Christmas arrived early” with the arrival of her second daughter.

LOS ANGELES — Michelle Kwan, a celebrated two-time Olympic medalist, joyfully shared the news of her second child’s birth through an Instagram post on Friday.

The former Team USA figure skating star revealed that her daughter’s name is Della Rose Kwan.

“The moment I held her, my heart instantly grew, and seeing my elder daughter walk into the hospital to meet her baby sister brought tears to my eyes,” she shared.

Kwan opened up about her struggles with infertility, describing how the journey to motherhood once seemed unattainable after years of trying, and she referred to both of her daughters as miracles.

“After more than a decade of hoping, I still can’t quite believe this moment is real,” she wrote. “As an Olympian, I’ve pushed my body to its limits and been amazed by its strength—but carrying another life has left me in even greater awe. There were moments of frustration over how little I could control—a humbling reminder that fertility is something none of us can fully predict.”

The five-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist’s post ended with words of encouragement to families dealing with infertility.

“I know what you’re going through and I’m hoping you feel loved and supported in every way as you navigate this journey,” she wrote.

Kwan retired from figure skating in 2006 and is tied with Maribel Vinson for the all-time National Championship record, with both athletes having nine wins. She was also the second ever figure skater to win the prestigious Sullivan Award in 2001 after Dick Button did in 1949.

She also served as the United States Ambassador to Belize from 2022 to 2025.
