HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — On Wednesday, the illustrious actress Michelle Yeoh, who has an Oscar to her name, was celebrated with the unveiling of her star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“This feels both wildly incredible and surreal,” an elated Yeoh expressed to an audience of devoted fans, industry peers, and family gathered for the late-morning event on Hollywood Boulevard. “I am absolutely thrilled.”
Reflecting on her journey, Yeoh shared, “The road from Malaysia to this point wasn’t straightforward. There were times when I questioned my place here. However, I was blessed to be involved in stories that transcended cultural and linguistic barriers, reminding us of our profound interconnectedness.”
With a career spanning over forty years, Yeoh is celebrated for her memorable performances in films such as “Wicked,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” and “Crazy Rich Asians.”

In her speech, she extended her gratitude to filmmakers Jon M. Chu and Ang Lee for their support and inspiration.
“Thank you for discovering that I can actually act,” Yeoh said, addressing Lee with a chuckle. “I love when you used to turn around to people (and say): ‘She’s not just an action (person). Stop calling her an action person.’ Thank you for that.”
In 2023, Yeoh won the Academy Award for Actress in a Leading Role for her work in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
Sandra Oh, Awkwafina and Ke Huy Quan were also among those in attendance at Wednesday’s ceremony.
Yeoh’s star is located in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
